6 and seriously injured 10 Burmese workers
February 20 (NMG) A truck carrying 103
Burmese migrant workers to send back to Thai-Burma border has turn
over causing six deaths and fifty seriously injured at 14 km away
from Sankhalaburi in Kachanaburi district, one local resident said.
Total 103 Burmese immigrant workers - 90 males and 13 females who
were kept in Bangkok Immigration Detention Center (IDC) were on
the truck to Three-Pagoda border pass.
One local resident who visited to hospital told NMG regarding bus
accident said, “Three males and three females were dead while
the rests were getting injured. Among them ten peoples were seriously
wounded and they were in critical condition. One child was also
missing.”
Some villagers predicted that the death toll could reach more than
ten out of those whose conditions were critical.
At the same spot, seven Burmese peoples were killed and over twenty
were injured last year IDC bus accident.
Burmese migrant workers who were forced to send back to Sankhalaburi
are needed to take photographs and sign their signatures at the
Immigration Detention Center before they were dropped at Three-Pagoda
border pass in Thai-Burma border.
Burmese immigrant workers who were kept in Bangkok IDC are usually
sent back to Thia-Burma via Mae Sai, Mae Sod and Sankhalaburi borders
passes.
