| Burmese Workers donate
blood to honor Mother's day in Thailand
August 12 (NMG) Over 150 Burmese migrant
workers donated their blood in Mae Sot hospital to honor Queen Sirikit
Kitiyakorn's 71st birth day which is also marked as Mother’s
day in Thailand.
Moe-Thauk-Pann and Yaung-Chi-Oo Workers Associations took initiative
to fulfill the deed of Burmese workers for blood donation on the
Mother’s Day that Thailand celebrated across the country to
show their respect and pay honor to the Queen.
Ko Arkar, in-charge of Moe-Thauk-Pann Workers Association told
NMG that their effort of blood donation aimed to get deeper understanding
and trust among people of two countries.
He also said the tradition and Buddha’s teaching of the donating
of blood as “We want people of Thailand
knows that Burmese workers do respect and value other’s culture
although some Thais are looking down on workers with misconception.”
Almost eighty workers working at Han Thai Wool factory alone donated
blood on this day. Among these workers, one who donated his blood
today said “I am very pleased by my donation.
We face a lot of hardships while we are earning money as migrant
workers at other country’s sovereignty. However, I am very
delighted today when Thai authorities pay respect to us as we are
doing a good deed.”
Burmese workers have been donating their blood in such significant
occasions in order to get sympathy and better understanding from
Thai peoples and this is the third time to donate blood in Mae Sot.
Last year on August 8, about a hundred Burmese workers donated
their blood to honor the Queen of Thailand.
