Indian IT Minister ahead Burma

August 10, 2003: Encouraged with growing volume of trade
between India and Burma, the Indian Information and Telecom
Minister Arun Shourie is visiting Burma newt month to improve
the bilateral relations between the countries.
Telecom sources today informed the Mizzima correspondent
today that during his visit, Mr. Shouries will have a wide
range of talks with his Burmese counterpart and the traders
for exploring potential of information technology in Burma.
" Burma recently has shown keen interest in the information
technology sector. Moreover several Indian companies are keen
to invest in Burma keeping in view potential in the country",
the sources added.
They further informed that India wanted to carry forward
trade and commerce with Burma in a bid to emerge as a leader
in the Southeast Asian countries.
Giving more information about the visit, they said that the
minister is also keen explore the potential of telecommunication
sector which is a major leader in the Asian countries. The
minister is likely to be accompanied by a big delegation of
the Indian traders.
