Burmese democracy activists staged protest in front of Swedish
Parliament

Mizzima News (www.mizzima.com)
June 26, 2003:

On 23 June, Burmese democracy activists staged a protest in front of
the Swedish Parliament in cooperation with members of the Sweden-Burma
Committee.

The protest was also joined by students from Stockholm University. In
parallel to the protest, the Sweden-Burma Committee held a meeting at
the Swedish Foreign Ministry to discuss the unconditional release of Daw
Aung San Suu Kyi, a possible resolution of the UN Security Council on
Burma, and EU sanctions on all business connected with the SPDC.

The Foreign Ministry agreed on the demands made and assured the
Committee that it would take them forward in discussion in the EU.

Burmese democracy activists across the world have staged protest to
pressure the military regime to release of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and NLD
leaders unconditionally. Sweden is taking action to put pressure on the
regime for the immediate release of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and her party
members.
