The Kuki International Forum (KNF), based in the United States,
has
expressed deep shock at the recent developments in Burma and
demanded
immediate release Aung San Suu Kyi.
In a press release issued recently, the KIF said the game
plan used by
the military junta would adversely affect the situation in
Burma.
Hailing the strategy of National League for Democracy (NLD)
leader Aung San
Suu Kyi, the release stated that her efforts towards the restoration
of
democracy were not in vain.
In this context, the KIF advocated that if the situation
demands, the
international community should not hesitate to use any form
of
intervention to secure the release of Suu Kyi.
Similarly, the Committee for the Restoration of Democracy
in Burma
(Germany branch) has requested U.S. President Bush to lend
his support to
international intervention for regime change in Burma.
"The peoples of Burma are entirely fed up with the despotic,
outrageous
military junta. Atrocities under the murderous junta for more
than 40
years are no more tolerable and acceptable to all of us",
wrote U New
Aung, Chairman of CRDB-Germany. "We all seriously request
you and your
administration to kindly use your good offices in bringing
about regime
change in Burma through international intervention",
he added.
Launching a scathing attack on the Burmese junta, the Kuki
International Forum alleged that Kukis have been made a soft
target by junta
members during the last couple of years. ”Hundreds of
Kuki villagers were
evicted by the junta in the Upper Saging areas”, the
KIF release added.
The forum also appealed to the Chairman of the State Peace
and
development Council (SPDC) to find an amicable solution Burma's
current political
crisis.
