Burmese activists hold political meeting
in Japan
DVB, February 10
U Win Khet, the chairman of National League for Democracy
– Liberated Areas (NLD-LA) and U Aung Moe Zaw, the chairman
of Democratic Party for New Society (DPNS) had a meeting with
Burmese political activists in Japan and explained current
political situation of Burma.
The meeting was held at Onami Omusuka Hall in Tokyo and U
Win Khet explained the relation between opposition groups
including NLD-LA and the Karen National Union (KNU) which
is currently negotiating a proper ceasefire with the military
junta, State Peace and Development Council (SPDC).
He confirmed that the KNU vice-chairman General Saw Bo Mya
met representatives of NLD-LA before his recent trip to Rangoon.
The KNU is the backbone of the National Coalition Government
of the Union of Burma (NCGUB) and all KNU leaders will make
sure that the unity of the organisation is not destroyed but
strengthened, he added.
U Aung Moe Zaw said that the SPDC’s ‘road map’
plan for democracy is acceptable to no one without the support
of the NLD and ethnic nationals and that the oppositions have
nothing to worry about it. |
