NCGUB denounces the Burma’s junta
on its 13th birthday
DVB ( 19 December 2003 )
The National Coalition Government of the Union of Burma (NCGUB)
denounced the SPDC’s ‘road map’ plan and
urged the regime to talk to Daw Aung San Suu Kyi as soon as
possible in a statement issued on 18 December to mark its
13th birthday.
The NCGUB was formed in 1990 at the former KNU HQs, Manerplaw
to unite exiled Burmese opposition groups for peace and the
emergence of democracy in Burma.
The working Prime Minister of the NCGUB, Dr. Sein Win said
that the organisations has been able to work closely with
exiled Burmese opposition groups, do reconciliatory works
among ethnic nationals and affect the UN decisions on Burma.
When asked about the SPDC’s ‘road map’
plan, he insisted that not all ceasefire groups and political
parties in Burma are supporting the plan nor neither are they
promising to attend the SPDC-sponsored national convention.
He also pointed out that the SPDC is still not releasing
political prisoners including Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and it
fails to have proper contacts and dialogues with NLD and other
elected ethnic national representatives despite its claims
to be doing so.
Dr. Sein Win vowed to keep on fighting for human rights and
democracy in Burma with supporters within and without the
country.
