Europe seminar ends in London

Forum Burma – Europe Seminar which was held at SOAS
(School of Oriental and Asian Studies) in London from 13 December
ended the following day.
Dr. Win Naing, a coordinator of Burmese activists in Europe
said that a neutral organisation like the UN should set up
an investigation commission on Dipeyin incident and he insisted
that people such as the UN special envoy to Burma, Mr. Razali
Ismail who has economic interests in Burma should not get
involved in the process.
He also urged the European Union to set up an investigation
commission on the incident and declare the SPDC’s National
Convention illegal in the EU parliament.
Another coordinator, U Nwe Aung said that Forum Burma –
Europe is also informing EU nations who are attending the
meeting on Burma affairs in Bangkok on 15 December to invite
all interested nations and Burmese political parties such
as the NLD who have the mandate to act for the people of Burma.
The seminar was attended by scholars, students, Burmese activists
and ethnic nationals living in Europe. |
