U Aung Soe Myint appeal rejected again
DVB ( 12 November 2003 )
The appeal lodged by legal representatives of the MP of Taungoo,
U Aung Soe Myint is rejected by the local SPDC’s divisional
court again after the rejection of the district court.
U Aung Soe Myint was arrested by the military intelligence
agents and sentenced to seven years in prison for ‘possessing
a motorcycle without license’.
Thousands of people possess and use motorcycles without license
in Taungoo and Burma as a whole, but none of them are arrested,
according to his family members.
U Aung Soe Myint was deliberately trapped and punished thus
because he is an active NLD MP according to his colleagues.
His legal representatives are planning to lodge an appeal
at the Central Court in Rangoon as the last resort but they
don’t seem to believe that justice will be done.
Meanwhile, his old and sick adoptive mother is still looking
for him but no one dares to tell her the truth that her son
is being imprisoned. She is no longer able to eat and not
likely to survive long to see his release.
