Prayer and 1000 oil lamps offered for
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi

The NLD members and supporters at Aung Lan (Allan), Magwe
Division in central Burma led by their chairman U Nyunt Hlaing
celebrated the traditional Buddhist mass donation festival
(Bon Kahtein) and offered 1000 oil lamps and prayers at pagodas
and temples for Daw Aung San Suu Kyi on 8 November.
The wife of U Nyunt Hlaing told DVB that monks were given
material needs and payers were also offered at several temples
and pagodas starting from 7am.
Burmese democracy activists at New Delhi, India also celebrated
Bon Kahtein festival and offered prayer and donations to monks
at 8888 Buddhist monastery.
Exiled Burmese at Chiangmai in northern Thailand also joined
the local Thais in a similar festival called Loi Krathong.
