not good
DVB ( 7 November 2003 )
The health condition of the NLD vice-chairman U Tin Oo who
was arrested during Dipeyin incident and currently imprisoned
at Kale Prison in upper Burma is not good, according to the
wife of a political prisoner who recently visited the prison
to see her husband.
Daw Thandar, the wife of U Ne Oo said that U Tin Oo is held
in solitary confinement and not allowed to communicate with
his colleagues and fellow prisoners U Tin Aung Aung of Northwest
Mandalay Township, the MP of Myingyan U Paw Khin and Monywa
Township NLD chairman Dr. Win Aung.
She said that U Tin Oo has been suffering from severe cold
due to extreme weather condition and gastric complaints. The
health conditions of other 8 political prisoners incarcerated
in the prison with longer sentences before Dipeyin incident
are said to be worse. The oldest, U Tin Aung Aung is suffering
from diabetes and heart condition. U Ne Oo has gastric diseases
and U Saw Win has acute stomach pains.
Those political prisoners are still being held in the prison
for not signing the agreement not to get involved in politics
in the future.
