DVB ( 30 October 2003 )
Three NLD youths, Ko Myint Htay of Tamwe Township, Ko Ne
Win of Kyauktada Township and Ko Maung Maung Lay of Kyimyintaing
Township, Rangoon were each sentenced to seven years in prison
by a court in Rangoon on 27 October.
The three were arrested at the beginning of June by the military
intelligence (MI) and accused of distributing leaflets containing
‘false’ news on Dipeyin assault.
They were tried at a special court inside the notorious Insein
Prison for five months behind closed doors.
Their family members were not allowed to see them during
the trial but the MI charged them for the costs of medical
cares for the prisoners.
Ma Khin Khin Sein, the wife of Ko Myint Htay said that the
authorities could find no incriminating evidence when they
searched their house but they imprisoned him nevertheless.
The three are also said to be having health problems ranging
from malaria attacks to gastric complaints.
