NLD intensifies letter writing campaign

The NLD (National League for Democracy) members have intensified
and expanded its letter writing campaign to local election
commissions demanding the reopening of the NLD offices throughout
the country which were closed down after Dipeyin incident
at the end of May.
Township members from Magwe Division have sent letters to
their respective election commissions on 27 October after
members in Rangoon and Mandalay divisions started the campaign
recently.
The campaign was initiated so that the NLD members could
do their duties officially in their own offices, said Daw
Sandar Win, a woman leader from Magwe Division. Township members
including those from Magwe, Taungdwinggyi, Sakut, Nat Mauk,
Saleen, Myo Thit, Pwint Phyu simultaneously sent letters to
their township election commissions.
Daw Sandar Win who herself went to deliver the letter today
also said that the authorities had sealed off all the NLD
offices including their furniture and documents.
