Political prisoners’ sentences

The SPDC is handing down long prison sentences to people
who were arrested in connection with Dipeyin incident and
extending th sentences of those who had been already sentenced
and imprisoned.
Ko Min Zaw, a youth member of Monywa Township NLD was given
a 10 year sentence by the SPDC at the end of August and sent
to Mandalay Prison.
U Nyo Gyi, a NLD member from Madaya Township who has been
serving his three year and three month sentence in Mandalay
Prison was also given another six year sentence, according
to his family members.
U Nyo Gyi was arrested and sentenced to prison with various
charges. He was arrested by the military intelligence [MI]
at the beginning of June after the Dipeyin incident. In the
middle of June, he was hospitalised in Mandalay General Hospital
for ten days to treat his gastric disease and he is still
suffering from acute stomach ache.
According to the latest reports, the three NLD members from
Singu Township who were each given three years have been handed
down two more years each.
