Daw Sandar Win, Magwe Division NLD Women leader

DVB ( September 4, 2003 )

When I heard the news, I felt very strange and worried. And I believe the news to be true because she has been standing up and working hard for the people to this day without caring for her physical needs. We believe that this is the last path.

It is not enough for NLD members just being worried. What are we going to do? Things will not get done by just demanding. We have to do something in accordance with her vision.

What I want to say to our members is – do not just sit like a tree stump but to meet and plan something in consultation. We are not interested in violent methods. It is a very important time to think carefully and do things succinctly.

On her health condition, she is very thin and she doesn’t eat properly. She needs vitamins. We have been working closely with her and I know from my own experience that she eats very little. We had to persuade her to eat a lot. Now that she doesn’t eat anything, how could she survive?

Moreover, there is no one to comfort her. We don’t know where she is being kept… They should not treat a national leader like this – they have kidnapped her. It shouldn’t be like that.
