Daw Khin Saw Htay, vice-chairperson of Yenangchaung Township NLD

DVB ( September 4, 2003 )

As a NLD member, I am worried for her because we are worried that we might lose a good leader in Burma. Her father, General Aung San struggled for our country’s independence after it had been under the yoke of a foreign power for almost a century.

We still haven’t got peace fifty years after the independence. We can’t afford to lose a good leader who could bring peace to Burma. We believe that she is a good leader capable of bringing peace to Burma.

In the future, she would be a good leader who could be relied upon by the people of Burma and the world. She is a rare and selfless leader for Burma. Our country which is inhabited by diverse ethnic nationals is still not at peace with itself to this day despite the independence.

A country which is not peaceful can’t develop economically. In this situation, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi is a beacon for Burma and we can’t afford to lose her. As a Burmese woman, I am very worried for her and I pray for her everyday.
