Veteran Politicians plead the SPDC regarding Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s hunger strike

1) According to the morning news broadcast by foreign media on 1 September 2003, we heard that Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, the General Secretary of the NLD and the democracy leader, who is detained by SPDC is staging hunger strike due to political tension in Burma.

2)We, the veteran politicians are extremely saddened and feeling anxious by the news.

3)We believe that the current political situation demands an immediate face to face meeting between the SPDC and the NLD in order to solve the current political tension in the country.

4)Therefore, we beseech the ruling junta to initiate positive effort to stop Daw Aung San Suu Kyi from staging hunger strike. And as the people of Burma want her to lead the future of Burma, we also beseech her to stop from staging the hunger strike so that she won’t harm herself.
