leaflets
DVB (August 25,2003)
Some NLD (National League for Democracy) youths from Kemmendine
Township in Rangoon were arrested by the Military Intelligence
(MI) for alleged distribution of leaflets about the Dipeyin
incident happened on 30 May.
In the leaflet, it included a letter by the oppressed national
political forces urging the CRPP (Committee Representing People's
Parliament) to follow people’s wish by convening the
parliament as soon as possible.
It said that the military government has not recognized the
result of general elections in 1990. Although they promised
to hold reconciliatory talks, they created the Dipeyin incident
on 30 May and also tried to assassinate Ms Aung San Suu Kyi
and all democracy activists.
The letter, dated on 8 August, was addressed to the CRPP
and copies were distributed widely including the Parliament
Chairman Saw Mra Aung, the NLD, all ethnic political parties,
elected representatives, and veteran politicians group.
Meanwhile, the ex-NLD elected representatives' letter to
the SPDC (State Peace and Development Council) Chairman, the
open letter of more than 70 NLD elected representatives, the
NLD youths' letter, and many other papers and documents relating
to the Tabayin incident have been widely distributed in Rangoon
