DVB ( Aug 22, 2003 )
A fleet of military warships docked in the harbour of Rangoon
were attacked by three RPG rocket launchers around midnight
on 20 August.
Many people were woken up by the loud noises, according to
residents in Rangoon. One warship was on fire.
So far, the military has not given out any response and no
group has claimed responsibility for the incident.
Last month, the government arrested 12 people who were alleged
to plot assassination to government officials and bombings
in different cities including Rangoon.
It is the first time that military warships were attacked
in Rangoon.
