56th Anniversary of Mon Revolution Day

On the 56th Anniversary of Mon Revolution Day (12 August), the New Mon State Party (NMSP) which signed the ceasefire agreements with the SPDC had issued a statement to the SPDC.
In the statement, the NMSP urged the military regime to solve the political problems of Burma by political means. It also said that they would keep on fighting against violence.

According to the Thailand based Independent Mon News Agency, the anniversary ceremonies were held with military parades in all Mon State’s town including the state’s capital Moulmein where is the NMSP’s headquarter is.

Although the Mon national armed revolution happened 56 years ago, the party will keep on bearing the unfinished historic duty.

The NMSP signed the ceasefire agreements with the SPDC in 1995.
