NCUB pleaded Buddhist monks
DVB ( July 6, 2003 )
It is reported that the NCUB sent a letter in concerning
with the Dipeyin incident to top Buddhist monks of Burma,
Naingandaw Sangha Mahanayaka and all the Buddhist monks in
Burma on the 5th of July.
In the letter, the Buddhist monks and abbots are urged to
ask the authorities to tell the truth about the Dipeyin incident,
to cease all the continuing arrests of NLD members and to
stop forcing civil servants and monks to sign the agreements
and promises not to get involved in politics.
DVB's Khing Thazin reports:
Khaing Thazin : The letter states that because of the oppressions
of the SPDC, the people of Burma are facing all kinds of difficulties,
and the failure to keep the promises of the 1990 election
by the SPDC, its human rights abuses, its efforts to leave
the people of Burma in dark in concerning with their own affairs
and the rampant corruption among the SPDC’s officials
are making Burma lose its dignity in the international community.
Moreover, the letter also points out that during the Dipeyin
incident the people of Burma including the monks were brutally
killed by the regime’s thugs and during the brutal and
murderous assaults, the regime used fake monks to attack the
NLD supporters and tried to make the monks appear like murderers
with vicious intention. And the criminal actions of the SPDC
are now known to the world due to eyewitness accounts. The
letter urges the monks to force the main culprit of the Dipeyin
incident, the SPDC regime to tell people of what really happened,
to release all the NLD members including Daw Aung San Suu
Kyi and supporters including monks and to stop all the abusive
activities of the authorities forcing monks to sign promises
and agreements of non-involvement in politics and the like
as if they were civil servants. |
