Youth arrested in Kawthaung for distributing
leaflets
DVB ( July 5, 2003 )
It is reported that at least one youth was today arrested
in Kawthaung, southern Burma while distributing leaflets on
the true accounts of what really happened at the Dipeyin incident.
A local resident told the DVB about it as follows:
A local resident : This morning, they stuck some photocopied
handwritten letters about the Dipeyin incident on the walls
around Eden Teashop and Anwa-Tavoy Ward. The people are Thaung
Aye of SB-2, Kawthaung and Saw Lwin. Four policemen surrounded
them and one of them, a masked man was arrested. I don’t
know who he is. He was arrested. The authorities are saying
that they did that from the instruction of the NLD. The NLD
members told me that they are forced to report to the authority
once in two days for guests. They are placing security agents,
police and fire engines near the houses of the NLD members
and public places.
