Lawsuit against Daw Aung San Suu Kyi
to continue
July 1, 2003
While the international community and the people of Burma
re concentrating on the Dipeyin incident and the detention
of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, a SPDC court had recently decided
to continue the inheritance lawsuit against her by her brother.
The decision was taken on the 16th of June and the trial
is to resume tomorrow, said the NLD lawyers. Daw Aung San
Suu Kuyi’s legal team headed by U Kyi Win will explain
their case and the court is likely to take another decision.
Although it is rumoured that Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s
brother U Aung San Oo is in Rangoon, the inheritance lawsuit
is not the most important matter at the moment, said lawyers
but his early arrival for the Martyrs’ Day (19 July)
is quite extraordinary and the Rangoon residents are saying
that there might be some kinds of deal between him and the
military junta.
According to the lawyers, despite the lawsuit, the house
is being kept as it is and some NLD youth are living in it.
But everyone is worried about what would happen later and
some people believe that the authorities are keeping Daw Aung
San Suu Kyi in prison so that they can confiscate her house.
