Memorial service
for Black Friday held in India

It is reported that a Buddhist memorial service for all the
people who were killed by the SPDC affiliated thugs near Dipeyin
in Upper Burma on the 30th of May was held at the 8888 Monastery,
New Delhi in India. The service was held this morning by Burmese
democracy activists based in New Delhi.
DVB’s Thet Naing reports from India starting with the
words of the abbot of 8888 Monastery, U Pinya Wara:
U Pinya Wara : ‘Are we just going to keep on bowing
our heads and die by doing nothing under this military government?
We need to work harder than this. As long as we have the dictators,
our country will never cease to suffer sorrowful events like
this. All those who want democracy and peace in Burma need
to be alert and united now.’
Thet Naing : That was what the abbot of 8888 Monastery, U
Pinnya Wara said at the service. A Buddhist memorial service
in memory of the democracy heroes who were killed by the SPDC
affiliated thugs on the 30th of May at Dipeyin, Upper Burma
was organised and held by Burmese democracy activists at the
8888 Monastery, New Delhi in India today. During the service,
the devotees offered nourishments to the monks and heard the
‘five precepts’ from the monks and recited prayers.
Then, all the attendants recited special prayer for the people
who were killed on the 30th of May. The service was also attended
by people from other religious denominations including the
Hindus, the Muslims and Christians.
