A Heroic Fighting Between Man And Tiger
Maungdaw, February 29: A superhuman
fighting was occurred between man and tiger at Maungdaw Township
in Arakan State, western Burrma, said a village Chairman to our
sources.
On 10th February 2004, a man, 45, accompanied by his two sons,
25, 15, and his grand son, 13, hailing from Kiladaung of Maungdaw
Township went to the mountain to collect firewood for their families.
After collecting their firewood, they were taking rest on a mountainside
till 12:00 noon. At that time, they were hungry and thirsty, so,
the eldest son together with his nephew climbed down the mountainside
to carry water from the creek with containers, while the father
and his younger son were constantly taking rest on the mountainside,
he further added.
When the eldest son and his nephew were taking drinking water from
the creek with their containers, a big tiger that was 10 feet and
6 inches long from head to tail was waiting to hunt them. But, it
was not known to them. Suddenly, the tiger was running fast towards
them and at first attacked the eldest son and left him dead on the
spot, while the nephew was crying with fear. A few minutes later,
the tiger attacked the latter and killed him also at the same place,
said a villager named Lalu to our source.
On hearing the crying, the father with his sword and his younger
son rushed to the spot and seeing the tiger, the son quickly climbed
up nearby a tree, but his father, holding his sword strongly and
moving towards the tiger very bravely and carefully. While the tiger
was looking to his approach, the man saw the dead bodies of his
elder son and grandson lying on the ground with blood. So, it pushed
him courage and swore to attack the tiger for taking vengeance on
his son’s killer, he further said.
In one stage, the tiger ran fast towards the man and attacked
him, while the man also attacked the tiger’s face with his
sword. Fortunately, the tiger was seriously wounded in it face and
retreated a few yards back. At this time, the man was not seriously
wounded, said a relative to our source.
A few minutes later, the tiger again came and attacked the man
and he also attacked the tiger with his sword. This time, the tiger
successfully holding his neck and the arteries have been cut off
and the tiger was also fell down on the ground with injuries and
instantly dead, sources said.
But, the man did not fall immediately senseless and called his
son by giving the loud noises, who was going into hiding for fear
of tiger. Hearing the father’s call, the son appeared in front
of him and explained his son about the incident in detail. He asked
his son that the condition of him was not good, so, quickly went
to the village and informed the relatives about the matter, said
another villager to our source.
Hearing the last words of his father, the son went fast to the
village to inform the villagers about the incident. Hearing the
strange news, villagers, relatives, Nasaka forces, police and Military
Intelligent rushed to the spot. But, the heroic fighter was dead
at the side of his son and grandson before villagers’ arrival,
the villager further said.
Then the villagers to the village carried the dead bodies of father,
son and grandson and also the tiger. The next day, all the dead
bodies were buried in their village cemetery by the order of concern
authorities. But, the family of the victims had to pay Kyat-90,
000/- to the concerned authority not to carry out post-mortem, said
another relative.
The SPDC authorities collected some money from the villagers to
support the victims’ families. Leather and the bones of the
tiger were taken by the authorities and left meat for the villagers.He
is survived by his wife, two daughters and one son.
Previously, the tiger killed about 25 persons across the Maungdaw
Township within one year.
