Burma’s new envoy presents credentials
to President
Dhaka, Dec 29: U Thane Myint newly appointed
envoy of Burma to Bangladesh presented his credentials to Bangladesh
president Iajuddin Ahmad in a befitting manner, yesterday.
Burma new envoy was given a guard of honour by President’s
Guard Regiment at Bangabhaban in Dhaka.
On the occasion of presenting the credentials president mentioned
of friendly relations that exist between the two countries and Burma
envoy also expressed satisfaction over bilateral ties between two
neighbouring countries.
President of Bangladesh stressed the need of increasing trade volume
and cooperation in the field of education and hoped that proposed
road link between Bangladesh and Burma would ensure a batter cooperation.
Between the two countries there remains long-standing repatriation
issue over Burmese Muslim refugees known as Rohingya numbering 9591,
yet to be carried out. Burma envoy did not mention anything when
president pointed out the matter so far refugees are concerned,
