Burma-Bangladesh Director general level meeting start today in
Rangoon
Rangoon, Dec 21: The Director General
of Immigration Department of Burma and The chief of Bangladesh Border
Rifle (BDR) meet today in Rangoon to settle problems of arms and
drug smuggling and frequent insecure incident faced by Bangladesh
fishermen, reports our correspondent.
Director General of BDR Major General Jahangir Alam Chowdhury leads
8members delegation of Bangladesh side. Director General of Burma
Immigration Department Aung Thay leads 11 members of Burma team
including representatives from Defence Ministry, Foreign Affairs
and Border Security Force Nasaka in the meeting.
The meeting will be six days long.
The meeting is expected to discuss about holding of flag meeting
to settle disputes rising between the two sides smoothly with the
hope of the improving relations between the two countries, said
officials.
Border affairs consultation between the two countries held first
in 1993 in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh had decided to hold
such meetings in every six months. |
