Robber kills one MI man while crossing Naf with smuggling goods
Teknaf, Dec 23: One Military Intelligent
(MI) informer of Maung Daw, Arakan, was killed by dacoits in the
Naf river when he was dispatching two country boats load of smuggling
goods from Burma to Bangladesh, reports our correspondent.
On December 16, Mra Aye (40), an informer to MI, was told to send
two-country boats load smuggling goods by his boss, MI personnel,
taking huge amount of money from owner of the smuggling goods.
The goods were owned by two women, carrying by motorboat running
between Maung Daw to Sanpaibyin Yin village. Later the smuggling
goods were unloaded onto two country boats on the way for transporting
to Bangladesh.
While two boats came nearer Chowdhury Para Rakhaing village on
the bank of Naf River at Bangladesh side, they encountered a dacoit
boat at a point close to a tiny island and dacoit fired aiming at
the boats. At one stage, the informer of MI-18 was hit and fell
into river and died.
Another young man named Approo (22) also received serious injury
but two women managed to escape by another boat the report added.
The dead body of Mra Aye was recovered from the river near a village
called Doon Rwa of Teknaf Township, Bangladesh, at about 12:30pm
of December, the next day of the incident.
But as the dead body was not able to send to either side of Burma
or Bangladesh, it was buried on tiny island at the middle of Naf
River, it is learnt.
Further it is gathered that MI has been sending their men (informers)
with goods owned by smugglers by boat from Burma to Bangladesh taking
big sums of money and it is the first time that a man has been killed
in this connection. |
