An Arakanese youth in trouble for T-Shirt with Daw Suu’s
photo
Sittwe, December 11: An Arakanese youth
has been living a fugitive life to avoid arrest by military intelligence
No. 10 unit. His crime was wearing a T-shirt with a photograph of
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, Burma opposition leader, said a student from
Sittwe.
The incident was took place in Sittwe last month of November, the
capital of Arakan state.
Ko Naing Naing (31) son of late U Maung Gree Sein of San Pya quarter
in Sittwe, an active worker of democratic movement, brought the
T-shirt bearing the photograph of Daw Suu from Rangoon and walked
on street. Now he has been living in hideouts to avoid arrest under
pursuit of Military Intelligence (MI) No.10 base in Sittwe.
According to a person closed to Ko Naing Naing it is known that
he has been accused distributing 1,000 pieces of Daw Aung Suu Kyi’s
photo T-shirts that brought from Rangoon last month at Sittwe.
Ko Naing Naing had participated in ‘88’ people uprising
for democratic movement in Sittwe and was accused of killing of
3 MI personnel and was arrested along with 17 other persons. Later
he was proved not guilty and was released with other 8 persons after
three years under detention facing lawsuit. The other 8 persons
were reportedly sentenced to death penalty by military court in
2000.
During Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s last year visit to Sittwe,
Ko Naing Naing driving on motorcycle welcomed her from the town
of Pona Gwan, 16 miles north of Sittwe.
For this reason he being become an eyesore of MI and his employer,
U San Kyaw, owner of Shrimp Company, was compelled by MI to kick
him out from his job. Now he is a jobless and fugitive |
