December 3, 2003
Free Burma Supporters:
December 10, 2003 is International Human Rights Day. On this day,
as it has been for the last forty years, there will be 50 million
Burmese citizens who have yet to obtain their dream of freedom and
democracy. Individual freedom has been stripped, from many of them,
their entire lives. They live under the State Peace and Development
Council, a military regime who has committed gross human rights
violations. Everyday, the people of Burma face dangerous threats
from this regime.
We are calling on supporters of Burma to join us as we stand in
solidarity with activists throughout the world to commemorate this
day. This united effort to shed light on the need for protection
of human rights in Burma is a significant one. Please join us at
the United Nations and Burma Point by following the schedule below:
Action Time and Place I: Demonstration at Ralph Bunche
Park @ UN, 43rd Street and 1st Ave., 4:00 PM-5:30 PM
Action Time and Place II: Watch newly released video
on Burma at Burma Point, 41-45 73 Street (between Woodside and 41
Av.), Woodside, Queens, 7:00 PM-8:30 PM. Burmese food will be served.
Space is limited for Action II. Please reserve for
your seat.

International Action Alert
by
The National Council of the Union of Burma (NCUB) and
The National Coalition Government of the Union of Burma (NCGUB)
November 12, 2003
Overseas Burmese Democratic Organizations, Individuals and International
Friends of Burma,
International Human Rights Day on December 10, 2003 is right around
the corner and all member nations of the United Nations, governments,
non-governmental organizations and individuals around the world
are preparing to celebrate triumphantly over fundamental human rights
gained and protected. They see the importance of recognizing and
respecting human rights and promote it. While many of the people
celebrating will already be enjoying fundamental human rights, sadly,
,our beloved country, Burma and millions of its people are still
living under gross and rampant human rights abuses such as forced
relocations, forced labor practices, politically motivated arrests,
arbitrary detention, tortures to death and all kinds of inhumane
treatments by the oppressive military dictators and their thugs.
As of today, the legitimate democratic leader of the people of
Burma and the National League for Democracy, and 1991 Nobel Peace
Laureate Daw Aung San Suu Kyi still remains under house arrest,
almost all of the NLD top-line leaders are under detention, thousands
of freedom fighters and democracy activists including 39 Members
of Parliament are detained. General socio-economic situation is
getting worse as a result of mismanagement, corruption, and incompetence
of the ruling military regime.
Under these circumstances, the NCGUB and the NCUB would like to
recognize the upcoming International Human Rights Day, December
10, 2003 as the International Human Rights Action Day of Burma and
strongly urge all overseas multi-ethnic Burmese democratic organizations,
individuals and international friends of Burma to show your solidarity
with democracy movement of Burma by
(a) taking initiatives in your respective cities or local communities
for a commemorating event in order to promote and protect human
rights in Burma in the name of the "International Campaign
for Democracy in Burma (------)".
Note: your respective countries' names should be within bracket
(b) Launching a signature (petition) campaign among the participants,
locally residing patriotic Burmese and international friends of
Burma in your respective communities in order to send to the world
leadership including UN Commissioner on Human Rights.
Note: The Working Committee assigned by the
Fort Wayne Conference for international pressure will provide the
globally formatted petition letter
