Subject: Protection and Preservation of the Kuki People and their Historical Rights

Shri Vajpayee, the United States of America based Kuki International Forum reiterates the political imbroglio over the Kuki territorial integrity. The Forum welcomes the Government of India for attempting to find mathematical formula for lasting peace in the northeast region. However, the current infamous talk between GOI and Naga Rebel leaders (NSCN–IM) creates tantamount doubts and almost amount to the break up of social fabric that existed harmoniously since time immemorial among the indigenous peoples such as Meiteis, Nagas, Kukis, Boros, Assamese, Karbis, and Khasis to cite a few in the northeast region.

The plight of the Kukis, who served the Bharatvarsh in her freedom struggles since the British Raj hoisted its flag on Indian soil have totally been sealed and forgotten. The peace loving Kuki citizens, who have been maimed, raped, ransacked and uprooted from their hearts and homes by Tangkhul militant, Th. Muivah’s faction, have been sidelined, instead, holds talks with the victimizers (NSCN-IM).

Vajpayee Shahib, the northeast indigenous people in general and the peace loving Kuki people in particular raised alarm bell to your door: Why innocent young men and women continue to succumb to death? To cite a few; Saitu Gamphajol (in Manipur) incident on july 13th (Sunday), where Mr. Kamkholal Haokip (17), Mr. Kamsat Haokip (15) both S/o Mr. Sonthong Haokip and Mr. Satkholun Haokip (14) S/o Mr. Letkai Haokip were pumped to death by Indian Jawans ( 14th Assam Rifles under major Rajmin Singh) for no proper reasons known so far. On November 11, four innocent Kuki students; Kaiminlal Tuboi (15) Class X S/o Janglun Tuboi of Manja Kuki Colony, Paominthang Tuboi (16) S/o Janglun Tuboi of Manja Kuki Colony, Lunkhomang Guite (16) Class X S/o Lethao Guite of Khenjang village, and Haokam Thangeo (16) Class X S/o Thanglen Thangeo of NC Hills, who had appeared their matriculation exams at Manja Baptist high school (in Assam) were dragged out and killed in cold blood by the United People’s Democratic Solidarity(Anti-Talk) faction, yet the GOI has a mere mute spectator, despite many organizations calling for center invention.

Vajpayee Shahib, which one, rebel militants or the lives of innocent citizens be protected, secured and preserved? Was not GOI intervention that saved the 14 lives of NSCN-IM cadres along with their home minister in Manipur state where no ceasefire is extended? Is your government for the protection of the innocent citizens or some outlawed outfits? The Kuki Inpi, which is the apex body of the KUKI in the northeast region, called your attention to resettle the Kuki uprooted villages (over 350 villages) and knock several times for consensus tripartite dialogue to find lasting solution for the death toll of over 900 hundred innocent Kuki during infamous Naga-killing spree (1992-1997). It seems clear that, GOI forgets Gandhian ethic of non-violence and peaceful movement. The GOI shows the world that it pays sympathy and attention to the group that practices genocide and anti-Bharatvarsh as well.

The Kuki International Forum gets no reserve nerves to tolerate the suffering of its people. History has to be repeated again, wherein the Kuki Inpi (Government) will seek its own destiny and fate, never to yoke under the Bharatvarsh, if the latter plays apartheid game or divide and rule policy continuously. The Forum will step up “Zero-Toleration” and step another mileage to campaign the incapacity of GOI to protect and preserve its innocent citizens and call the attention of the World Body, if this Gandhian method continues to serve death trap and doom for the Kuki people in their Father Land.

Last but not the least, if protection and security as expected for my people cannot be met from your government, any thing that might turn out in the future for the worst be solely the responsible of National Democratic Alliance Government, which is under your charismatic leadership. The Forum, in the past, had made similar appeals to both Burma and Indian leaderships for the protection and preservation of our people and our historical rights.

For the cause of my people (KUKI), their Birth Rights and peaceful co-existence with other neighbors to build harmony, cordial and amicable lasting relationship,
