Justice for Human Rights in Burma (JHB) cordially invites you to
the 2003 World Human Rights Day.
Date: Wednesday, December 10, 2003
Time: 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm
Venue: Kettler 118
Indiana University Purdue University at Fort Wayne
Indiana, USA
Photo, DVD and Power Point presentation: The photo presentation
by JHB and other locally-based human rights groups will include
images of displaced villagers, child and forced labor, porters,
political prisoners and the plight of women in Burma.
Background:
December 10th marks the 55th anniversary of the Universal Declaration
of Human Rights (UNDHR) as adopted by the UN General Assembly. JHB's
goal in sponsoring HR Day as an advocate for the rights of others
is to raise awareness and invite the active collaboration of concerned
individuals and communities world wide. UDHR's vision, which JHB
share, is for the realization of governments to hold accountable
and promote a culture of human rights and to address violations
of the basic rights of citizens.
JHB's objectives on this important day are,
to bring international pressure -judicial political and economic-
on the military junta for the widespread human rights abuses.
To gain the release of all political prisoners as well as the
resumption of all political parties without restrictions, and the
reestablishment of a full press freedom.
To bring a heightened attention to the gravity of the pervasive
human rights abuses committed daily against the citizens of Burma.
