| INVITATION LETTER
Date: October 18, 2003
The Battle of Political Defiance No.77 - "Anti-Dictatorship
Peoples' Freedom Movement" will continue. A ceremony for the
birthday of Ko Min Ko Naing will be held. There, we will be a salute
and prey for the health and freedom of our student leader Min Ko
Naing on his birthday. Many student leaders, who took active part
in 8888, will reflect their memories.
The activists, human rights organizations, amnesty international
and the dissidents around the globe have been calling for the release
of him for fifteen years. We have begun our campaign as “Free
Min Ko Naing and all political prisoners” for forty two weeks.
Then, we decided to move up an aggressive campaign “Anti-Dictatorship
Peoples’ Freedom Movement instead by learning from Burma’s
history.
In the past, Young Men Buddhist Association (YMBA) gave young people
in Burma a new hope that Burma could gain independent if they struggle.
The student leaders, who became THA KHINS-masters in Burmese, had
joined so many different factions with an aim to keep up their struggles.
Finally, they came to realize that from student activists to politicians,
non-violents to arm struggles, peasants to intellectuals and communists
to Buddhist monks must join hands together shaping up a solidarity
force to fight against the brutal fascism in Burma. Thus, the Anti-Fascist
Peoples’ Freedom League (AFPFL) was born. The rest was everyone
knew.
In the same scenario, the student led demonstrations in 1988 gave
us a new hope to “free our people” from the dictatorship
rule in Burma. In fact, U Ne Win and his one party rule was toppled
by the power of the people led by the student activists. After the
outrageous suppressions by the brutal regime killing tens of the
thousands of non-violent activists on September 18, 1988, student
activists had joined with many different factions including with
the ethnic minorities, who were struggling for their self-determination
for more than four decades. As times
passed by, Learning from AFPFL’s successful leadership and
movement, the activists, dissidents and the oppositions from various
factions overwhelmingly supported the need to form a movement called
“Anti-Dictatorship Peoples’ Freedom Movement (ADPFM)”
at the Fort Wane Conference with an aim to unify the movement inside
Burma and overseas as one. The endorsement of ADPFM was implemented
there, and we will follow up the endorsement with effective actions.
“DOWN WITH THE ROAD-MAP which means the direction to grave
in Burmese.”
