I'll Meet Myanmar's New PM To Resolve Crisis
- Razali
KANGAR, Sept 5 (Bernama) -- The UN Special
Envoy to Myanmar, Tan Sri Razali Ismail, will hold talks with Myanmar
Prime Minister Khin Nyunt to help resolve the conflict in that country.
He said he would find ways to meet the new prime minister to discuss
and study the plan for democracy to be implemented in Myanmar.
"I heard the Myanmar Prime Minister has his own road map.
There are seven steps in the road map but the details have not been
given," he told reporters after calling on Menteri Besar Datuk
Seri Shahidan Kassim here on Friday.
Asked for latest developments on the detention of Myanmar's pro-democracy
leader Aung San Suu Kyi, Razali said he did not know the real situation.
He said he also did not know whether the first move under the road
map was to release the 58-year-old Suu Kyi.
Razali said the United Nations was worried as long as Suu Kyi had
not been released.
Asked when he would be leaving for Myanmar, Razali said the date
had not been fixed but the world body had asked him to go to Yangon.
On his meeting with Shahidan, Razali said it was a normal courtesy
call as the Menteri Besar was his old friend.
He said Shahidan provided useful advice to him.
