Why:

Date: 1 August 2003

My Dear Friends,

Today Burma has reached a critical junction, where we have to show unity, strength, perseverance and tenacity that will drive us into victory for Burma's Democracy movement. The SPDC is now very shaky, nervous, restless and fidgety. It is going to crumble into pieces pretty soon. They cannot stagger anymore under present unprecedented vigorous pressure coming from the United States, the European Union, Canada and many ASEAN countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines) and Japan.
President George Bush signed into law last week the "Burmese Democracy Act" that will choke off the junta's economy. With the strong efforts by the US Senate and Congress, we have driven out many foreign companies (including Korean, Taiwanese, Hong Kong, U.S, British and Singaporean, etc.) out of Burma, leaving the thuggish military government.
The Indonesian foreign minister Hassan Wirajuda and President Megawati, the Malaysian President Mahathi and the Philippines president Aurora have given ultimatums to these thugs to release Aung San Suu Kyi and all political prisoners immediately, or face expelling them from the ASEAN membership.
The Thai Prime minister Thaksin has drawn a roadmap towards national reconciliation and a prosperous democratic Burma under a federal government, elected by the people. Me and many all of our patriotic expatriates do not agree with his roadmap. Our Senator Mitch McConnel has already rejected him as a representative of the thugs.

Here's my message to him -

Dear, Mr. Thaksin, you must realize that these thugs are unresponsive and turn a deaf ear to anyone who threatens their power; it is just like talking to the wall in trying to persuade the hardheaded, obstinate, and selfish thugs who are preoccupied with enslaving the innocent citizens of Burma. They will never surrender power until they die or are succeeded by similar thugs. Once Burma attains Democracy all the neighbors, especially Thailand, will prosper together. Please do not waste your precious time and energy in persuading them to change their mind and transfer power to the people. Instead, please join the chorus of your fellow ASEAN members, the United States, the European Union and the World body in eliminating these subhuman thugs.
Thanking you in anticipation of your favor to build up an international consensus.

Sincerely,

Aungkhin B. Aungkhin, MD
Vice-President, International CRDB
