Letter to Mizoram Chief Minister
August 3, 2003
Pu. Zoramthanga
The Chief Minister,
Government of Mizoram, Aizawl, India
Subject: An appeal to diffuse Chin (Zomi) purging campaign in Mizoram
state
Hon’able Pu. Zoramthanga,
The collective leadership of Kuki International Forum (USA) commends
your peace broker involvement among the northeast India undergrounds
in usurping peace and tranquility in the region. The forum hails
you as Modern Mizo Hero, when you shake the blood stained hands
of NSCN (I-M) collective leadership; Thuingaleng Muivah and Isaac
Swu at Bangkok, Thailand (your picture with them at Thailand, Bankok,
[www.nscnonline.org]). We are proud of your unscrupulous leadership
in the best interpretation of Mizo’s perennial philosophy
of “Tlawmngaihna.”
However, the Forum unequivocally could not subscribe your Government’s
inertness pertaining to the so called –“Foreigner Purging
Drama” (Kanglaonline: Aizawl, July 27[NEPS]; Aizawl, August
2 [NEPS]. To remind one and for all, the infamous terms “Foreigner
Purging,” “Foreigner Ouster,” “Eviction,”
"Quit Notice,” and “Ethnic Cleansing,” are
chiseled, harbored, orchestrated and mayhem by NSCN (I-M) collective
leadership, to foster their utopian Nagalim Dream against the Kukis
in the recent past (PS Haokip, Kukiforum.com, Rejoinder to NSCN-IM
letter on Kuki-Naga Clashes, 1992-97).
The Forum raises its brow with suspicion whether today Mizo’s
leadership and Mizo Student Federation such as Young Mizo Association
(YMA) have been brain-washed by NSCN (I-M). Any civil society would
prompts a quizzing thought as of the rational judgment behind as
when the YMA takes law and order in its own hands discarding the
norm of International Law of Human Rights Issue. By what common
sense the YMA ransacked houses and buildings, which is one’s
security and comfort from rain and sun? Will Mizoram Government
in general and Mizo civil society in particular effort to forget
that Mizoram is an aspiration as Peace Abode for all "Zofate/Zohnathlak"
around the world irrespective of anyone residing in India, Burma
and Bangladesh? Any intellectual person can smell the apartheid
hysteria in the mute silence of Mizo Churches and other non-governmental
organizations, leave alone Mizo Journalists Association who sympathized
the tugging drama (MJA, Kanglaonline, Aizawl, July 28, [NESP]).
The Forum expresses its ugliest displeasure upon the rapist (July
17, minor girl rape incident) for tarnishing the age old and high
traditional value of Women chastity among Chin-Kuki-Mizo progressive
society. Let the culprit be dealt in the highest court of our traditional
law by giving stringent punishment not the many innocent people.
The Forum, therefore, makes an earnest appeal to the Chief Minister
and the Mizoram State Government to come up with a lasting solution
whereby “Zero Tolerance” of such crime be duly met,
yet maintaining innocent and minor children, men and women be targeted
unethically in Christian majority state like Mizoram.
The Forum wishes goodwill to its Unao Chin family, who in the unethical
behest of one or two demeanors had suffered intolerable pain. We
pray for their soon relief and relocation. Reckoning peace, tranquility
and fraternal brotherhood among Unao Chin-Kuki-Mizo family!
