Calling all Fellow students –

The 7th of July will be the 41st anniversary of the bloodbath of us students. The military dictators washed their feet in student’s blood and ascended the throne and rule to this day. Starting from the '69 ASEAN Games Festival incident, U Thant affair, Hmaing centenary incident, and the '88 nationwide uprising and still continuing, the military dictators have spilt students blood along their path.

Everyone is aware that throughout their 41 years of rule, we students have been crucified. The body may not have died, but the military dictators have killed education. Today’s education system has no value whatsoever. It is far below any standard and we all know that. They have pushed us out into far away desolate places, jungles and hills to split the students and impede student unity and solidarity.

Their military medical, engineering and computer institutions are grand and palatial. To make the whole country pro-military is their intention. In Burma, only the military predominates in every sphere.

What shall we do? Students were at the front in the struggle for independence. This is our history.

We must dig into our past. If we fail our education will reach abysmal depths and can never ever rise again. While electronic education is sweeping the world, our system is digging itself into a crevice.

Let us redeem our selves. We must make the effort to accomplish what we desire. We must comprehend that now their fall is imminent because the military dictators are frenzied and have become reckless dare devils.

So, starting from the 7th July, we the student body will commence the war.

This military regime is shutting its eyes and proclaiming it can survive in the open market despite the fact that its financial and banking system has collapsed.

This military regime has destroyed the country’s economy by proclaiming and adopting random and ad hoc policies such as “Wetlands, GEC, Duty free bazaars”.

This military regime proclaims “higher education” but denies the right of students to accommodation in hostels.

This military regime has devised a health system where the people have to purchase their own health needs even cotton swabs.

This military regime has complete control of the daily necessities of life that people have lost their senses and power of reasoning.

While this military regime exists, there are no bright prospects for the people. You will have no future.

Everyone who desires and wants a better future has the responsibility to bring down this military regime. This is your responsibility.

Adopt the policy of “People’s Oway” to bring about the “DOWNFALL OF THE MILITARY REGIME and the ESTABLISHMENT OF DEMOCRACY”.

You are not alone. You have many many People’s Oway to support you. If you can work in groups with your associates, do so.

People’s Oway will work like guerillas and strike like lightning in unexpected places, unforeseen times and in unanticipated guise. We must not be caught.

Every citizen who believes in a better future must work to give the People’s Oway movement intensity and momentum.
