1. Call/Write to your government
leaders and urge them to bring the issue of Burma to the UN Security
Council (see sample -- Appendix 1)
2. Call/Write to the UN Secretary
General to visit Burma and call for UN intervention and mediation
through the UN Security Council (see sample -- Appendix 2)
3. Write a letter to the State
Sangha Maha Nayaka (Highest Body in the Order of Buddhist Monks)
in Burma urging it to take action (Appendix 3 -- Sample letter by
the Buddhist Relief Mission)
4. Contact your Representative, Parliamentarian, Senator, and/or
Member of Congress and urge them to raise the issue of Burma in
Parliament/Congress, question the government about its support for
the democracy movement led by Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, and request
them for a resolution on Burma
5. Contact your Church and Religious leaders, and Monks, and ask
them to publicly explain the situation in Burma, designate a day
to hold a prayer session and pray for the safety of Daw Aung San
Suu Kyi and the people of Burma
6. Stage sit-ins, candle light vigils, protests, and hunger strikes
in front of the Burmese embassy/consulate in your country, raise
public awareness, and send letters to the missions denouncing the
crackdown on the democracy movement
7. Write articles/commentaries, letters to the editors, call your
local radio show hosts to talk about Burma's brutal junta, and the
political situation in Burma

stations—BBC, VOA, Radio Free Asia, and Democratic Voice of
Burma—about your activities by e-mail, fax, or phone listed
below and let the people of Burma know that they are not alone in
the struggle for democracy. Thank you.
