| The Free Burma Coalition
and EarthRights International present:
No Safe Place: the Situation of Women from Burma
Featuring Veronika Martin, Naw Musi, and Renee Blanchard
When: July 9, 12pm-2pm
Where: Oxfam America, 1112 16th St NW, Suite 600,
Washington DC, 20008 (202-496-1180)
As the human rights situation in Burma becomes increasingly violent
and
abusive, so does the everyday life of the women of Burma. These
women are subjected to systematic rape and extreme violence perpetrated
by the Burmese military. Even if these women escape to nearby Thailand
or Bangladesh, they are still vulnerable to exploitation and abuse
as refugees. Join us for a discussion of these issues and actions
that we can take in the U.S. to stop the violence against Burmese
women.
Please RSVP to Kate Greene at: kate@earthrights.org
