We, New York coalition for a democratic Burma, are calling on
everyone to help us send messages to Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra
through Thai embassies in denouncing his support for Burma military
regime’s “Road Map”.
Not only is he supporting the brutal regime’s, State Peace
and Development
Council (SPDC), road map, but also he is harassing and repatriating
forcefully thousands of people back to Burma where they will be
in danger.
This is the most critical time for the people of Burma, especially
when SPDC
is cracking down on pro-democracy activists inside the country.
Prime Minister’s support of SPDC will bolster the regime
to continue house
arrest of our national leader and 1991 Nobel Peace Prize laureate
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.
Therefore, we ask world’s citizens, including our neighbor
Thai citizens and
His Majesty The King, to help free Burma’s 50 million innocent
people. We
urge everyone in joining us to appeal to the Thai government to
stop cracking down on our students and refugees, but rather work
to bring democracy to Burma.
This rally in New York City is in solidarity with the Democratic
Burmese
Student Organization in Washington D.C.
