WANT A FAX CAMPAIGN!

The Fax Campaign is a campaign designed to fax the people in Burma via the large companies and corporations such as banks, constructions, the timber projects etc. The people in Burma will hear our message from the CEOs, the members and the staffs of these companies and corporations. We want them to know that the climax of the world's reactions and reflections on the political situations in Burma, informing them with the economic sanctions, visa bans, the US's criticism against the regime for its failure to continue the GENUINE TALK, the international condemnations of the regime's human right abuses including the raping of the Shan ethnic women, the frequent visits of the international statesmen to Burma including the UN Human Right investigator - with an aim to let them know what really is going on around the world. We will also let them know that the international community is putting tougher pressures on the regime until it cooperates the democratic transitions.

Sending the signals to the people what they should do is also necessary especially at this time while the regime is experiencing political diversions. Our right to express the fundamental human rights should be practiced in Burma especially this time of year when the international statesmen are frequently visited to Burma. The regime can not effort to make violent suppressions against us like it did in the past in front of them. Finally, we want the people in Burma to know that the freedom and democracy in Burma will only be prevailed by the power of the people in Burma.

The Fax Campaign will create the communications and cooperation between the activists in Burma and abroad. This is a good time for the activists to use Fax Campaign because the big companies and corporations in Burma posted in the regime's yellow pages have the privilege to access the telephone, fax and email communications with abroad under the auspices of the regime. By taking this opportunity, we can fax to the people in Burma via those companies. Spreading rumors regarding the downfall of the regime all over Burma is a good thing to do. There also will no need to be worry about the shutting down of the communications because it will hurt not to the ordinary people in Burma but to the companies and corporations that mostly are owned or associated by the regime's relatives and sycophants.

We have staged the Fax Campaign since the 14th anniversary of 8888, with our open letter to Gen. Than Shwe, our statement of 14th 8888 in Burmese, and the important current news from the international news agencies. We earnestly advise you guys to use the statements of the US Congress and the State Department, the UN press releases, or any sources that will make sense to the people in Burma.

The political and economics situations demand an immediate political change in Burma. Political change is the ultimate goal for us. Our answer to the question, what if another 8888 uprising and another killings occur, is that there would not be another chaos because we already have an officially elected party that has long pass due to run the country since after the 1990 elections. Besides, the level of international focus on the regime's behaviors at this time is very high and it would not allow the regime to commit another killings of the innocent people. In fact, inciting the people to stand up against their fear created by the military dictatorship is the stepping-stone of our endeavor to restore freedom and democracy in Burma.

Therefore, we would like to invite all the activists and the oppositions to join us to shake down the regime with any measures possible until it cooperate the democratic forces. The following fax numbers, to our knowledge, are very useful for us to fax them. We also would like to advise you to write your letters in English, which will echo various meanings and directions after they are translated.
